GET ON WITH IT!!!!

Postby axiaeuxine » Mon Nov 30, 2009 4:03 am

So I had a revelation today about myself. I have little to no patience and I have actually come a looooong way with my impatience during my lifetime so far. I become quickly irritated with things that would be of little to no frustration to your common person. I discovered why. I was working earlier listening to a customer tell me about her computer problems. She went on for over 2 minutes describing various symptoms of her computer's woes. It boiled down to she had a virus.

Right now say out loud to yourself "I have a virus." Now time how long it takes you say that. If you could actually click your timer that fast it MIGHT be in the neighborhood of 1 second. But it took my customer over 2 minutes. At least 120 times the amount of time needed. while she was going on and on the inside of my brain just screamed "GET ON WITH IT!" at her.And I realized that's what annoys the FUCK out of me about a lot of things, especially small talk and people.

So few people just get to the point. People think its rude to go straight to the point of something sometimes or worse, they are chatty. I just want to know why you are there. GET TO THE POINT! even when I'm talking to people I like. If I get monosyllabic on you. Its because I don't want you to go on and on and on any further about what you are talking about. I have already acquired anything of use out of the conversation and I have decided it's time to move on...(or I am distracted searching for porn or something) So I'm not going to engage you any more in conversation and feed something I don't want to live.

The above is not what I have been thinking consciously but as I have come to this realization I will admit the above does have a flaor of truth to it, but not in a malicious way if that makes sense. Most people are just fine with and expect the "around the block to cross the street" routine. I'd prefer something more expedient.

This is another reason why I don't like going out to sit down restaurants to eat. (first one is they are too fucking expensive.) Let's get some food and GET ON WITH IT! Not wait to get seated, wait to order drinks, wait to order appetizers, wait to order meal, wait to order desert, coffee? check wait for the check...got the check ready to pay...damnit she left...wait for her to come back. here you go...wait for the damn card....finally got the card back and GET ON WITH IT!

In TV shows too. I like to say "shit or get off the pot." to the TV sometimes when I think a plot point isnt moving fast enough. We (my wife and I) were watching a old episode of Grey's anatomy and Meredith and Derrick were on the screen together. They were and on-again off-again couple for so frigging long on the show it was becoming a joke. again, GET ON WITH IT!!

Horror movies GET ON WITH IT!! I want to see stabby-stabby© within 10 minutes including the title.
Porn GET ON WITH IT!! You know what plot is in porn. Wasted video.

Just GET ON WITH IT!! If there is momentum, whether in dialog, plot, interaction, visuals or conversation with your buddy then its good.

I shared my revelation with my wife and she was wondering how that can be true and be married to her. My wife can tell a rather involved story. But there's a difference between a long story and what I am talking about. Ill give you 2 examples.

1. the story my wife might tell. "so I saw this green dinosaur and it was eating some vegetables oh that reminds me I saw on yahoo that this cold front was going to be pushing up the prices of tomatoes so I want you to go to the store and get some. what was I saying? Oh yeah so the dinosaur ate the vegetables and then attacked these people at the mall and there were these cops everywhere. OMG that reminds me these cops were..."

2. the GET ON WITH IT!! story. "so I saw this green dinosaur and it was green ya know I mean I saw a dinosaur a real, green dinosaur. Do you know how crazy that is? I green dinosaur!?"

There is momentum in my wife's story. Nothing is happening in example 2. GET ON WITH IT!!. So this isnt about me being impatient. It boils down to wasting my time. Now of course I realize that my waste of time is yours well spent and vice-versa but...Im talking about me lol!!
